Solstice Chapter 21

I'd forgotten that I still had the Voice.  *laughs*  It was rather Easy to forget certain things there...

The circle of light loomed closer, drifting first one way then the other in a relentless search pattern.  I notice that the ground sizzled and popped beneath the intensity of the light.  Dry dessert rocks hissed and cracked, sand shimmered, puddled, flashed into vapors...

I mumbled, 'Oh you've GOT to be kidding'

The circle Stopped.

The ground that it illuminated scorched, puddled, began to vaporize...

Silence seemed prudent at the time except for one small little detail;  the circle of light chose that exact moment to come rushing across the ground towards me at an alarming rate of progress.  Gone was the methodical search pattern, replaced instead by a deadly accurate, incredibly swift beeline for me.

I Freeked *laughs*  Who wouldn't?

I Howled 'What The Hell You Doing??? Knock It OFF!!'  to no avail; the circle of light zeroed in on me and I was instantly engulfed in an intense, searing brightness.

My eyes imploded so that the whiteness became total, three hundred and sixty degree, and never-ending in all directions, inward and out.

My body, or what there was of it, began to hiss, crinkle and crack before bursting... the seams vented a variety of vapors which would instantly combust into flashy rainbow hues before vaporizing into nonexistence.

My outer skins began to scorch, pop, bubble, blister away, layer after layer..

'You Filthy...

I was being stripped apart, torn, released...

...SON...

The light grew fuller, richer, a depth that was hidden began to reveal itself...

...OF...

The last vestiges of my being melting beneath the scrutiny, the last shadows of myself scorched and sizzled into the whiteness...

...A...

I was no longer in the way of my own light... for one brief instant...

...BITCH!'

and I was Free.
