Solstice
Chapter 18
The
Force is pretty straight forward, almost Newtonian in it's simplicity;
it's that nebulous region between Matter and Energy, that Thing that
highly
clever mystics have tagged with such lofty titles as Zones of
Uncertainty
or Quantums of Improbability *laughs* Basically, the Force is that
realm
of majik that exists whether we're there or not*shrugs*
The
Voice though, *sigh* that's a different animal. Oh, it's
every
bit
as Powerful as the Force, in its own way. It's just as
ancient
and
universal... but it's a Lot trickier to use effectively than the Force
is*laughs*
The
Voice requires, more than anything else, an Audience. And the
more
willing the audience, the more Powerful the Voice *shrugs*
The
Voice is something we all use everyday, casting out spells left and
right,
unknowingly rearranging reality on a whim, then wondering why the world
is the way it is *giggles* Few understand it. Fewer still
master
it. My grasp of the skill is limited, at best
*sigh*
Sometimes
I work wonders with it, at others, only wearisome woe will result...
Well,
I had an audience: Me.
And
I was Very Willing to alter my current state of being. *laughs*
I
tried the Starship thing again, getting into character, imagining a
wormhole
in space, some bit of techno magic getting me out, but I couldn't
Believe
it. I tried the Wizard of Oz thing but couldn't get over the
fact
that I wasn't going Up to a groovy place, but enstead was racing
downwards
at warp speeds to almost certain destruction. I tried the
Alice
in
Wonderland thing only I Wasn't floating down a rabbit hole on my way to
tea, I was plummeting down the center of a vortex, an
electrified
maelstrom of smoke and debris swirling and howling around me.
I
focused my awareness forward...
An
intensely beautiful bright orange fireball, with reds and yellows
boiling
across a surface peppered with smoldering embers, was rushing up to
greet
me.
Not
even Bugs Bunny could get out of this one *laughs* which was Going to
be
my next choice...
I
summoned up all the energies I could muster and did the only thing I
could
think of: I shouted as loud as I could.
HHHEEELLLPPP!!!
