Solstice Chapter 8

I freaked for a moment, but there was something decidedly nice about that hand, and it WAS pulling me more or less in the direction I wanted to go; out to sea away from Loki and Yggdrasll...

However it was also pulling me DOWN and that had me a bit worried, I still couldn't breath the stuff and death by drowning was NOT high on my list of things to do, ya know?

The hand was clasped firmly to mine. 'Vice like grip' doesn't even come close to describing it... and it was pulling me downwards through the water at remarkable speeds.  Bubbles streamed past me, obscuring my already blurred vision, along with a cloud of long silky green streamers...

I squinted my eyes and peered at the hand... it was very human, and pale white... smooth, graceful... it had a wrist just like any other hand and that was connected to an arm which stretched out of view into the green streamers...

The water was churning all around me like a jacuzzi but there was no way I would be able to gulp up any of those air bubbles...a big calm washed over me as I realized I was rapidly running out of air.  My body went limp, conserving ever molecule of the precious stuff until only my eyes and brain (well, those parts that didn't slosh out of the bucket that is *grin*) remained functioning...

Then things started to get dark.  I wasn't sure if it was because I was getting deeper and deeper below the surface or if I was just blacking out, but the blues and greens and silvery bubbles all washed into dull grays and blacks...

I was just reaching the point were I fully expected my  body to completely ignore me and gasp in a lungful of that wet stuff which would send another god awful black explosion ripping through my soul when the hand let go I stopped moving.

For a split second I panicked.

Then the face of the most beautiful woman I had ever seen my life swam into view, framed by a halo of silky green hair that moved with a life of its own.

A Totally Different Panic hit me and I opened my mouth to gasp...

....and she kissed me... sorta.

Her lips pressed to mine and sucked the water out that I had almost breathed in and then cool Sweet air filled my lungs.

*dreamy*

It was better than sex.  The air was rich with freshly mowed meadows and fragrant flowers, spicy soups on a chilly day and summer rain on a sidewalk...

I think she laughed then, although I'm not sure because she also shoved me straight down.

My feet broke the surface...

That seemed really odd to me, gravity was telling me I was going DOWN, but it also felt like I was being shot out of the water feet first like a missile from a submarine.

For an instant I was falling through the air not at all sure which way was UP...

...then I hit the sand just hard enough to lose my balance and fall flat on my face.
