Solstice Chapter 7

I'd cold cocked a god!  Or a deity or whatever he was...

Someone with a hell of a lot more 'powers' than me, tha's fer sure *laughs*

My heart pounded in my throat as I ran down the hill, away from the scene of the crime.  I had no doubts that he would be less than happy when he woke up...if he woke up.  Jeezus!  What if I'd killed him too???  Things were adding up too quickly...

I was fleeing the wraith of one super being into the wraith of another.

Tha's when I came to a skidding halt.

If I gave up and let Loki have his way with me I die and so does the cosmoverse.  If I outwit Loki the statue/god gits me and I die, thus saving the cosmoverse...

Something was NOT adding up right.

No cute chick?  No Tiny Tim?  Not even a trip to Hawaii?  What was in this for ME?

I peeked over my shoulder and could see Loki at the top of the hill, just starting to stand up... He was Big in his corporeal form and somewhere in the back of my head a light flashed and I recalled he wasn't a god at all but a Frost Giant.

In front of me loomed the tree, Yggdrasll, and the waiting statue/god... off to my left the dark forest undulated, daring me to enter...

Loki was striding down the hill towards me now.

I gazed to my right.  In the distance the ocean shimmered, dotted with a few icebergs here and there.  I trotted towards it, Damned if I was gonna let any of the bozos of that Realm dictate my actions.  Loki saw what I was doing and altered his course to intercept me, but too little, too late, I had reached the beach.

I snuck a peek over my shoulder as I waded into the surf, and saw the forest rushing up behind Loki, either to help him, or mess with him, I didn't know, for just then a hand grabbed me and pulled me under.
