Solstice Chapter 6

I trotted down the mountain, not at all happy with the way things were turning out.  So far none of the shocks had snapped me back, and I had the feeling that even if I Tried to 'wake up' I wouldn't be able to, ya know?

I made it down the mountain without mishap and soon found myself on the grassy hills surrounding Yggdrasll.  Once again the lush meadows and gentle hills stretched before me, the giant tree towered over the horizon, and the dark forest loomed off in the distance...to my left this time.

I strolled slowly, needing Time to ponder the problem before me...

The flowers of the meadow were beautiful, and abundant, filling the air with their intoxicating aromas.  I slowed to enjoy them, some purplypink ones in particular *grin* and I noticed Her eyes again.

They were tucked back behind some golden glowy bell shaped flowers not far away, simply watching me...

I pretended not to notice, however, and enstead continued upon my merry way, smelling flowers like everything was just peachy.  After a bit, when Nothing Happened, and I knew I had pulled off my little ruse successfully, I decided I had better use it or I'd loose it.

'Ya might as well come out an' walk with me, you'll learn more tha' way and the view is better...'

I didn't even have time ta pat myself on the back fer bein' so clever and witty and whatnot when Whamo! Her eyes were floatin' along next to me like they was always there, matchin' my stride step fer step,  and Her warm voice says outta nowhere, 'Ya, I was just thinking the same thing.' !!

I didn't miss a step. *he hee heee* nope, pretty good, huh?

Well I was still more than curious why she was there and I knew better than to try to hide it or beat around the bush, so I just up and blurted out 'What are You doing Here?'

Her eyes flashed with mirth and delight at my curiosity and the powers it contained...

...and tha's when it clicked.  It had been naggin' at me since our last encounter...Her eyes, the Loathing they held, the Hatred.  That wasn't Her... And now the Mirth, the Satisfaction in my discomfort...  no, This wasn't Her at all!

I lashed out.

Her eyes were floating along on my right side where they woulda been had they been inside a body, and I swung my left arm around, palm flat, like I was shoving the last box of soki into a particularly tight van at the end of a rather bitchy day... A motion I had done a gazillion times...

But always with a fifty pound box on the other side of my palm being shoved through the air and stacked into a van...

My arm was THERE before I knew it, spinnin' me around in the process, and yankin' me offa my feet an' onta my ass *laughs*

But somewhere in my wild dance my palm slammed into those eyes, and the essence behind them, and it DIDN'T pass harmlessly through 'em, either *wink*

I stood up and dusted myself off, and there on the ground with the goofiest of grins was Loki the Trickster, knocked fer a loop...

I didn't know whether to burst out laughing or tremble in fear, so I did the next best thing...

I ran like an idiot.
