What Went Down

She used ta cover up
Baggy clothes and hair up
She was quiet and shy
The ring on her finger
Implied another guy...

Then one day
She came to me
There was no guy
She was free

An' we walked and danced
An' Sang and laughed
And for those two weeks
I had a chance...

Then silently
She disappeared
From her chosen path she veered
And she Vanished
Into the the night
Lost forever from my sight

She had another
To be her lover
Now her hair is down
And her jeans are tight...
I doubt she frowns
During the night

And I go home
Sleep alone
No messages
On the phone
My life's the Same
So it seems
Empty nights
Empty dreams

Then HE prances
Into my world
This new lover
Of the girl

An' like a rooster
He sings
As he flashes me
Her ring
And I'm supposed to
Unfurl
My wings and embrace
Them?

No
I cry an' pout
An' mull about
And slink into my icy cave
When my First
(the Best and Worst)
The one who Really Gave
Came peeking
Seeking
Trying to save
her sanity
(And maybe check on me
and give a little wave)

An' I'm stackin' totes
Smokein' smokes
Movin' in stereo
Thinkin' chicks
And chicks
And chicks
WOAH!

An' I peek out of my icy cave
An' peer at the first who gave
An' then I glance inside my head
At the recent memory of my bed
An' then I delve into the past
Into a Love that will always last

And Why
Goes
Goodbye

How Come
Is
Done

And like a blinding ray from the sun
I begin to think I understand
What it means to be a man

But to fathom females
I'm sad to say
Still eludes me
To this day
