The Sea
by
MORCHEEBA
Flocking to the sea
Crowds of people wait for me
Seagulls scavange, still I scream
Worries vanish, within my dreams.
I left my soul there
Down by the sea
I lost control here
Livin' free
Fishin' boats sail past the shore
Not singing Mayday anymore
The sun is shining, the boards are clear
Just you and I are walkin' along the pier.
I left my soul there
Down by the sea
I lost control here
Livin' free
A cool breeze flows, but mind the wasps
Some get stung, it's worth the cost
I'd love to stay, the city calls me home
More hassles fuss and lies on the phone.
I left my soul there
Down by the sea
I lost control here
Livin' free
Couple that with trippy funk and yer
starting to
git the idea
comrades...don't
be shy, ask for
them by name, MORCHEEBA.
Shoulder Holster
I am the Nu
For reasons I can never explain
I speak the truth
I put an end to all of your pain
I won't give
I wanna drag you right through your past
I'm on a roll
And I'm moving way too fast
Are we always looking over our shoulders?
Are we always pulling guns from our holsters?
I map the stars
I check every hour of the day
I stay well apart
And mold you with my clay
Out of the depths
Every soul can pay the fee
Those who are kept
I'm gonna set you free
Are we always looking over our shoulders?
Are we always pulling guns from our holsters?
I'll shed light
And tear apart all you believe
One of us
Is greatful for all you recieve
Pick it up
Till you find it hard to contain
Let it go
Can you hold it all inside your brain?
Are you always getting scared of the future?
Are you always wanting someone to shoot you?
Are we always looking over our shoulders?
Are we always pulling guns from our holsters?
Nifty, huh? *giggles* I'd send ya
a wav file
but a really good
stereo sound byte eats up a
meg of ram or more and some of us are less than pleased to have to
wade through two or
three megs of download garbage in order to get to our other mail
*giggles*
and not all of us
can run wav files let alone hear them in Stereo anyway so yer jus gonna
hafta call yer local
radio station and request to hear them or hit up yer local shops and
what not....They start
their tour this month, begining in Europe, (Lisa, Gilda, *nudge nudge
poke*) and then the
States next month (*nudge poke nudge* everybody else except us poor
schmucks in Alaska
'cause they AINT comin here *pout*) MARK THEY ARE GOING TO BE
PREFORMING
SOME BLOCKS AWAY FROM YOU NEXT MONTH GODDAMMIT FIND OUT HOW
MUCH TICKETS COST RIGHT NOW!
GILDA THEY ARE GOING TO BE IN MILANO THIS
MONTH! HOW OFTEN DO
YOU
GO TO MILANO? IT'S NOT FAR....GO SEE THEM! You've been
working
too hard
anyway, call in sick, go to a nice club and hear sweet passionate
lovingly
funky sounds for
an evening. HAVE FUN!!!
*sigh* okay, so maybe living on an
island
and working around a
fishes schedule sucks a bit,
I dunno. *shrugs* I miss going to concerts though,
or
rather
being ABLE to go...seems like
no matter where I lived down south there was always SOMETHING groovy
going on within
half a days journey from where I was at...in other words you only had
to blow off a day to
go do it, concert, rodeo, ballet, museum, amusement park, movies,
didn't
matter, at most you
only had to blow off a day to do it...from here though it's two days
bearass minimum and
rather spendy. However, *grin* we DO have a rather nice movie
theater out at the high
school now, who knows? In a few years maybe we'll have a
concert
pavilion out at Elf
Woods, ey? *giggles* Now wouldn't that be
nice? With
Sandy Beach Inlet and Devils
Thumb as the back drop? *snicker* *bursts out laughing* May
the
glacier just march right
over the top of us if that should ever happen! *sigh* Mark?
In
a way I hope that none of the
Elves return this season....the place is thrashed. Not just
the
remains of human habitation,
but leached of mana, energies, ya know? For the rest of
you...Elf
Woods is a stretch of
beach front land out past Sandy Beach Park towards Fredricks
Point.
There are some
people living out at Fredricks Point. Untill just last year
the
only way to reach them was by
boat or by the Fredricks Point Boardwalk (a wooden sidewalk that ran
from Sandy Beach
out across the swamp/muskeg over streams and gulleys and so forth to
these peoples homes
and various scenic overlooks) Now however, there is a road
running
along side the
boardwalk, and sometime this year that road will connect up with the
other one (I think) and
we'll be able to drive all the way around the island for the first
time ever (whoopie*grin*)
Elf Woods lays between the road/boardwalk and the ocean, a thin ribbon
of old growth
forest. It is indeed an Enchanted place and those that choose
to live there
become....transformed. *smirk* Elf Woods proper has
no
boundries, they stretch into your
neighborhood, into your dreams, always in a state of flux.
The
part that is here though is
defined by an old tiny Grapes of Wrath shanty hut on the Sandy Beach
side up to an old
piece of rope tied to an even older tree branch hanging over a
deathtrap
pit full of knarled
stumps and other nasty bits and is lovingly called 'the
swing'.
Some YEARS ago...20? a
rather Large tree fell smack dab across the Grapes of Wrath shanty
hut...didn't crush it
completely, would NOT want to have been in it when that happend though
*grin* Unless
you walk up the beach this is most likely where you'd first enter the
Woods. It's a nice
visual reminder of just exactly where you are, he hee heee.
The
Fire Pit divides the Woods
area in half, and really most tent/crash pads are located close to
this central point. A long
list of people have called that little plot of Earth HOME over the
years. It is a mystical
place for many....but it's not a concert. *grin*
Few of you will ever get to see Elf Woods. But you CAN go to
a concert. Or spend the day
in an Art Gallery....Blow off a day. Feed your head.
As far as life on the Rock goes, hell, I
wouldn't
know, I'm still on
a half assed night shift
schedule, on call but No Work Scheduled every night so far...however
they are fishing
Kashakes and it looks like I'll be on again tomorrow night for a
while...been
rainy and chilly
at night, I can tell you that, *giggles* oh, and every thing is closed,
too. *laughs*
keep in touch,
seeya!
